Bognor Regis Town 5–0 Canvey Island
From Nyewood Lane
Ryman Premier League
CANVEY Island were mauled 5-0 by Bognor Regis Town on a forgettable afternoon on the south coast.
The Gulls were simply no match for their opponents in a game that promised so much.
It was a meeting of two of the division’s in-form sides but only one showed their quality in the first-half.
The Gulls were walloped by Bognor, as goalkeeper Conor Gough was beaten four times in the first half.
Doug Tuck almost opened the scoring in the first five minutes but his shot was inches wide of the target but the first goal was just around the corner.
Jason Prior was on hand to open the scoring with just eight minutes on the clock.
Tyrell Miller-Rodney saw an effort saved as Danny Heale’s side looked to respond but there was only one side in it. Chike Kandi scored on his debut as he passed into the empty net with Canvey sliced open at will by a merciless Bognor.
Prior scored from close range before the game was 30 minutes old and Kandi completed a memorable first-half for the hosts when he poked home a loose ball after Gough could only parry.
Four at the break, things didn’t improve after the interval, as Prior completed his treble.
Injuries to Glenn Poole and Tambeson Eyong compounded an already miserable day for Danny Heale.
Canvey Island: Gough, Gordon, Dumas, Eyong (Curran), Halle, Yiga, Miller-Rodney, Poole (Sheehan), Chatting, Sykes, Stokes
