Weston-Super-Mare 0–3 Concord Rangers
From Winterstoke Road
National League South
CONCORD Rangers secured a vital three points at struggling Weston-Super-Mare to move them six points clear of the relegation places.
This was a hugely significant game for Concord as they were facing a side just below them in the standings but they were clear winners.
Lewis Taaffe, impressive in recent weeks, netted two of Rangers’ three goals, with captain James White scoring the third.
The Beach Boys left new signing Tom Ranger on the bench the day after he had signed forms from Great Wakering Rovers, but his teammates were making the early running.
Taaffe scored the opener after 21 minutes, racing onto a Ben Greenhalgh through ball to dink the ball delicately beyond the onrushing goalkeeper.
The striker was proving a real thorn in Weston’s side and continued to hassle as the half went on.
Into the second-period it perhaps came as no surprise when the second goal came or who scored it.
Jay Dowie won possession in midfield and the ball dropped to Taaffe who did the rest.
The points were wrapped up when White blasted home, following more good work from Greenhalgh in a wide position.
Concord Rangers: McNamara, Hammond, Stephen, Dowie, King, Bailey-Dennis, Taaffe, White, Greenhalgh, Cawley, Gardner
