THE PREVIEW: East Thurrock United made short work of South Park in the first qualifying round and will be favourites to progress against Tiverton tomorrow and pocket £3,250.
The Gold Army face the long journey to Rookery Hill from Exeter hoping to upset the odds against a side who play their football a tier higher than the Southern League Division One South & West.
However, they are sitting fourth in their league and have only lost one of their eight away league encounters to date, beating Peacehaven & Telscombe 3-0 in the first qualifying round.
But Rocks are on fine form, having rested a number of first-team players in Tuesday’s 3-0 Essex Senior Cup win over Great Wakering Rovers, although they still have a number of absentees due to injury.
WHAT HE SAYS: Rocks boss John Coventry said: “I don’t know a great deal about them but they did beat Didcot this week, a side who have done well in the FA Cup recently. But Tiverton had fresh legs and scored some late goals so I won’t read a lot into that. That said I think their league, which is at the equivalent of Ryman One North, is probably playing at a slightly higher level.
“We will play Ryan Scott, left, up front again but it may be a case of having to bring someone in, if Sam Higgins and James Walker are out for a long time.”
