Billericay Town 2-1 Harrow Borough

From New Lodge

Ryman Premier League

JACK Giddens produced some superb late saves to make it 10 points from the last 12 for Billericay Town after they earned a narrow win against Harrow Borough.

A Conor Hubble thunderbolt and a goal from Cliff Akurang was enough for Town, but goalkeeper Giddens preserved that advantage in the closing stages with some terrific late stops.

Town were looking to continue their recent league form, having lost just one in the last seven games and they almost fell behind early on.

A well worked free-kick saw Fejiri Okenabirhie flick into the path of Spencer McCall but his strike was well blocked by the legs of Jack Giddens.

Mike Fondop had started his Billericay Town in tremendous form, netting eight times in his first six games. However he had only scored one in the last seven although that run appeared to be over when he found the net with Town’s first chance.

He slotted home from a Tom Derry cross only for the flag to go up, with Cliff Akurang denied by a superb save from Conor Hudnott.

But Town did get the goal their play deserved soon after, and what a goal it was. Conor Hubble picked his spot and ripped an effort into the top corner from 25 yards to score his first for the club..

Ten minutes into the half it was 2-0, and it was a second league goal for Akurang. Good link up once again between Fondop and Derry saw the latter fire play in a cross for Akurang to slide the ball home.

Fondop missed a sitter and Harrow responded, with Okenabirhie pulling a goal back.

But the same man could not find a way past Giddens in injury-time. Two terrific late saves from the goalkeeper kept the advantage intact and the points at New Lodge.
