THE PREVIEW: Concord are sure to be in for a tough test when they head to fourth-placed Whitehawk in the National League South tomorrow, although they travel with renewed confidence.

Concord have won four of the last five matches, scoring 19 goals in the process. They have also kept back-to-back clean sheets in the league for the first time this campaign, having beaten two of the sides scrapping at the bottom in recent weeks.

Whitehawk have scored 37 times in their 16 matches so far, the second highest in the standings, which is something Concord will need to be wary of, having the second worst goals against column outside of the bottom two.

Concord also have two in form strikers. Steve Cawley and Lewis Taaffe have hit nine goals in the past five matches.

WHAT HE SAYS: Concord manager Adam Flanagan said: “I expect the game to be similar to the game earlier this season (Concord lost 2-1) which was pretty even.

“They have improved significantly since then and I feel we have as well. I feel our performances have been better away from home this season so far and we will need another big performance tomorrow if we want to get anything from the game.

“The key battles for us will be keeping the match winners throughout their side quiet. I think the game will be decided on who defends better on the day as I feel both are strong going forward.

“We bought back John Easterford, inset, because he is a quality player – we feel he can push the players who are in front of him at the moment adding to the strength in depth we are getting in the squad.

“In games this year we have needed players with a do anything to win attitude and this is something John has that in abundance.”
