Great Wakering Rovers 0–1 Bury Town
From Burroughs Park
Ryman One North
A SOLITARY goal was enough for Bury Town to beat Great Wakering Rovers at Burroughs Park.
Ollie Canfer struck one minute before the end of the first-half to help Bury to the points, although nothing separated the sides during the match.
Rovers welcomed back striker Jake Gordon, who returned to the club after recently joining Chelmsford City, and he impressed, while failing to get the goal the home faithful so desperately wanted.
Gary Ansell’s side had no shortage of attacking options on the pitch, although when the goal came it was the away side that got it.
Canfer got the only goal after a slick move ended with a strike past Matt Belcher, who was starting his first home match since joining from Burnham Ramblers.
Rovers came close to getting a goal, although Belcher also had to make several fine saves in the home goal, but the failed to score and the match ended 1-0.
Great Wakering: Belcher, Jacobs, Kent, Worrell (Gilchrist), Hepburn, Sands (Johnson), Newby, Pinto, Gordon, Nash, Cleaver
