Billericay 4–1 Leiston
From New Lodge
Ryman Premier League
BILLERICAY Town scored four against Leiston for the third home match in a row, as they picked up the pace in the hunt for the play-offs.
Town had hit four in the last two home meetings against Leiston, and they were impressive in the first-half against the Suffolk side.
Jordan Cox netted a brace inside the first 20 minutes, his first goals at New Lodge, to put Craig Edwards’ team in the driving seat.
It should have been more but Ashlee Jones was having a terrific night in the away goal, making a number of saves to keep the score down.
Jones denied Teddy Nesbitt from the penalty spot shortly before half-time, but he was helpless to deny Tom Derry a goal 10 minutes after the break.
Jack Ainsley pulled a goal back, scoring after Jack Giddens had saved his spot kick midway through the half, but Derry had the last laugh as he banged home his second of the night to lift Billericay into sixth, outside the play-off places on goal difference.
Billericay Town: Giddens, Diallo, Stephenson, Hubble, Beavan, Curley, Monville, Poole, Derry, Cox, Nesbitt
