CONCORD Rangers manager Adam Flanagan says ending the season at home with a flourish is “very important” as he aims to build on a disappointing record at the Aspect Arena.

While Concord boast an excellent away record, they find themselves fourth from bottom of the standings when it comes to points win on their own turf, with just six wins from 19 matches so far.

Concord welcome Truro City tonight, and know defeat will end any hopes of finishing the season in the play-offs.

But Flanagan says winning the next two home games, against Truro and Havant & Waterlooville, is his immediate priority as he looks to respond to Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Hayes & Yeading.

“Our home performances have been disappointing this season so putting in two good performances in our last two games is very important,” he said. “Places in the league are still up for grabs and we want to finish as high as we can.

“Realistically I believe the playoffs are beyond us now (even though mathematically they may not be) but we won’t give up and will look to try and win our last three games.

“Saturday’s result was a poor one even though we were able to grab a point at the end. We had some very good chances to put the game out of reach but we were unable to take them and Hayes were able to drag themselves back into the match.”

Truro find themselves fifth in the standings having only won promotion to the National League South last season and Flanagan was full of praise for the Cornish side.

“Truro have had a great season after coming into this league,” he said. “They have a style of play which has worked for them and have some very talented players. It was a tough game when we played them earlier on in the season and I expect the same tonight.”

Defender Steve King is a doubt for the match, as is Jack Lampe although John Easterford is expected to return. Winger Sam Bantick will finish the season at Brentwood Town.

Flanagan lifted the Essex Senior Cup for the first time as manager last season and said he was delighted to secure the result, as a thank you for those who put their faith in him at the club.

“I am pleased for the chairman, the backroom team and the supporters as losing so many key members of the management and playing staff must have been very daunting coming into this season,” he said. “The fact we still had a chance of getting into the playoff’s going into the second weekend in April and have won a third Essex Senior Cup has gone some way to show them that whatever happens the spirit of Concord will always survive.”
