CANVEY Island continue to bolster their squad after re-signing another familiar face.
Former supporters’ player of the year Jack Simmons, 21, has rejoined the club from National League South outfit Dartford, just days after his former Canvey and Darts team-mate George Sykes returned to the Essex club.
The Wickford talent did return to the Gulls for a short spell last season, playing six matches as he returned to full fitness before going on to make a further 29 appearances for the Kent team.
And manager Danny Heale said Simmons’ return was an exciting one for the club.
"Jack's been with us before and we know what he's all about,” he said. “He can play in a variety of positions in attack and is a very exciting player with great control and pace.
"Our focus now is on bringing in a couple of defenders to add competition for places in that area of the pitch. Once we've managed to do that I'll be happy that our squad should be pretty where we want it to be."
