CANVEY Island have added a fourth new face to their squad in the off-season, with Joey May linking up with the Gulls from AFC Hornchurch.

May signed for the Urchins ahead of the 2013/14 season, spending a brief loan spell with Tilbury in October 2014.

But, following Hornchurch’s defeat in the Ryman One North Play-Off final, May has decided to make the move to the Frost Financial Stadium.

And manager Danny Heale is delighted to add another midfielder to the squad.

"I've been keeping a close eye on Joey for over a year and feel he will add even more quality to our options in the middle of the park,” he said.

"He is a very talented player who makes good decisions and I'm pleased that he's agreed to sign for us."

May joins Lee O’Leary and former loanee’s Jack Simmons and George Sykes in signing ahead of the new campaign.
