BOWERS & Pitsea were well beaten by Witham Town, as Tim Monsheju hit a hat-trick to down the visitors.

Bowers were boasting a 100 per cent record in the Ryman North ahead of kick-off although Witham Town had also been improving in recent weeks.

Bowers created the first opportunity, with Tom Hine’s set-piece cut out with the forwards lurking following a flowing forward move.

But Witham took the lead after 15 minutes, with Monsheju netting for the visitors.

Vinny Durrant combined with Hine as the latter almost brought parity although the equaliser wasn’t long in coming.

A terrific strike from full-back Scott Pethers made it 1-1 inside 30 minutes.

Bowers were in the ascendency, with Durrant again involved as his effort flew inches wide of the post.

James Thomas’ shot was kept out on the stroke of half-time, with Alfie Hilton also proving hard to handle with his strike tipped over.

Perhaps feeling unfortunate not to be ahead, Bowers fell behind three minutes after the interval.

A swift counter-attack ended in Monsheju sweeping the ball home for Witham.

Back came Bowers, with Hine’s effort rolling across the goal-line in agonising fashion although the scored a second equaliser soon after.

Luke Wilson rose highest to score his second of the season on the hour mark.

But this topsy-turvy game was a long way from finished, as Ozzy Adeniji put Witham back in front just seven minutes later.

And when Monsheju completed his hat-trick, the writing was on the wall for the visitors.

Adeniji scored a fifth in stoppage time from the penalty spot.

Great Wakering scored a late winner as they beat Tilbury 2-1 to earn their first win of the season.

It was a difficult first-half as Rovers lost both Leon Gordon and Nick Hilder to injury, although one of the replacements came up trumps.

Ten minutes before the break, Jay Nash finished with aplomb for his first goal of the season having found himself on the bench in recent weeks.

But that lead wasn’t to last, as Tilbury came out strongly in the second-half.

It was Eli Benoit who equalised for the visitors but Rovers were to have the last laugh.

Having conceded a number of late goals in recent weeks, they scored in the 88th minute against Tilbury, with Billy Johnson hitting the winner.
