SOUTHEND Manor roared into the next round of the FA Vase as they saw off Essex Senior League opponents West Essex 7-0 at Southchurch Park.
After a mini blip in the league, Manor were hugely impressive in the first qualifying round and led 5-0 at the break.
A brace from Michael Hopkins, plus strikes from Dan Okah, Eamon Payne, Matt Keiller, Rhys Fatt and Abiola Tanimowo were enough for Manor.
They will now host Canning Town in the next round of the competition.
It was a disappointing afternoon for Essex Senior League leaders Hullbridge Sports, as they were beaten 2-1 at home by Sawbridgeworth Town.
Gavin Cockman handed Sawbridgeworth a 10th minute lead as the visitors seized the initiative and it could have got worse soon after when the same man’s effort hit the post.
Charlie Little was denied an equaliser as the half wore on, but it remained 1-0 at the interval.
But it was all about Cockman, who scored a second after 65 minutes.
It wasn’t until the final moments that Sports got their goal, with Will Holland and Ashley Pibworth combining to find top-scorer Luke Hornsley who found the net.
But it was too little too late.
Basildon United were also beaten 2-1, going down at home to Barkingside.
The Bees had led at the break, with Daryl Cooper notching a debut goal, but it wasn’t to last.
Sam Edwards scored a minute after half-time and substitute Kerkstun Macpherson got the winner with 18 minutes remaining.
