CRICKET: Hadleigh & Thundersley will be hosting an ex England international XI at their John Burrows Recreational Ground base on Friday.

Monty Panesar, Alex Tudor and Mark Ealham will be among those in action against Hadleigh in a T20 clash, starting at 3pm.

And Hadleigh's Olly Smith is looking forward to the game which will be raising funds to help the club purchase new net facilities.

“This is an event that the club have been proud to host for the last 31 years and this year is no exception,” said Smith.

“It should be a fantastic day with live cricket, bouncy castles, funfair games, live music, a barbecue, licensed bars and much more so we’re really looking forward to it.”

And Smith is hopeful a good amount of money can be raised.

“We are raising funds to install new net facilities,” he said.

“Our current facilities are not fit for purpose to sustain the growth of our cricket club.

“The new facilities will include a three-lane enclosed net facility to ECB standards with a full-length bowler’s run-up and realistic bounce.

“In addition a single lane facility will remain open to the community for use all year round.

The total cost for the project is £125,000 and donations can be made here.
