A SIZZLING one under par gross back nine helped cadet Craig Loxton take Rochford Hundred’s top July Sunday medal.

The youngster comfortably won Division One thanks to four birdies plus 12 pars for 69-4=65 to see off closest rival Ray Weidner. A birdie and 13 pars helped Weidner notch 74-6=68.

John Frye had a mixed round, but still managed to take Division Two.

Frye enjoyed three birdies and five pars in his 80-11=69 which helped erase a couple of double bogeys.

Second spot was collected by Gary Hudson – three pars for 88-15=73.

Division three was a real family affair with a father and son combination taking the first two places.

In the end Robert Bryan (89-19=70) eased out dad Jim (89-18=71) to take the honours.

Robert had three pars and a birdie while Jim fired three pars.

>TINA Dye’s net 68 was good enough to win Jo Rumsey's Lady Captain's Day at Rochford Hundred.

Dye’s 89-21=68 took top spot with Rumsey herself winning the Silver scratch prize on 82 with Sue Myall's 95 taking the Bronze award.

Other prizes were collected by: Sylvia Barty, Joyce Currie, Mary Horn, Chris Fox, Isobel Ellis, Karen Playle, Chris Woods, Elaine Tucker, Wendy Wilcock.

Past Captain’s winner was Ilean Eley with Jennie Roberts winning Committee honours and Joan Parr proving top veteran.

Nearest the pin prizes were picked up by Sylvia Barty, Josie Hodder and Beryl Claxton with Maria Williams and Pat Last hitting the longest drives.

Sue Proctor, Anne Bourne and Hazel Harley were the ace putters.

The afternoon team competition saw victory from the first tee go to Chris Barker, Pat Lowndes, Chris Woods, and Lesley Trenaman from Sue Proctor, Jennie Wade, Lorraine Norris and Jennie Roberts.

Back nine success was chalked up by Mary Horn, Sue Clarke, Elaine Tucker and Ilean Eley ahead of Pat Last, Sheila Nutter, Wendy Wilcock and Joyce Currie.

Rochford Ladies McMillan Stableford was won by Carol Evans with a superb 43 points - seven better than runner-up Rosemaire Gemmell.
