JACK Woolcott ensured his debut in the Southend & District LTA summer finals was a memorable one by winning the men’s singles and doubles titles.

The Wickford tennis club player beat Thorpe Bay coach Jon Lee on his home courts in straight sets to claim the silverware.

And Woolcott beat Lee again in the doubles when he teamed up with Craig George.

But Thorpe were celebrating singles success in the ladies’ competition where Ashlee Tyrrell retained her ladies’ singles crown.

Neil and Sarah Jacobs only got wed a couple of months ago and they wasted no time in winning the married couples event.

The Rayleigh tennis club pairing faced club-mates Steve and Dawn Higgins in the final, which was one of four Steve contested.

But he came away without any titles as he was the losing finalist in all four.

The annual tournament was refereed by Steve Wynn.
