WITH temperatures set to rise, there is a good chance of most action due tonight going ahead.
Top of the bill is in the Ryman Premier where Billericay Town face a difficult task when they host runaway leaders Dartford.
The Kent side will arrive at New Lodge with a 12-point lead over nearest rivals Hastings with the Sussex side having played four matches more.
Town’s concerns, of course, are at the other end of the table where they are desperately trying to escape the bottom four drop zone.
Their chances were certainly not helped on Saturday when, after going 2-0 up at Ashford Town (Mx), they eventually lost 3-2 to an injury-time goal.
Canvey Island need to start putting a good run together if they are to figure in the end-of-season play-offs.
Tonight they go to Wembley to take on 17th-placed Hendon knowing that six of their next seven league matches are on opposition territory.
Gulls currently stand 11th and are seven points away from the coveted top five positions.
Although still third in Ryman One North, East Thurrock United have been faltering recently and dropped two more potentially vital points in Saturday’s 2-2 home draw with VCD Athletic.
Tonight they host much-improved Northwood who enjoyed a great win at Concord Rangers 10 days ago.
Tonight Canvey-based Concord, who are in danger of facing fixture chaos after Saturday’s trip to Aveley to meet Romford was called off, go to Potters Bar Town.
Concord still have 20 league games to go and host Potters Bar on Saturday in a quick return with their League Cup third round tie at home to Billericay Town sandwiched in between on Thursday night.
Thames Road-based Concord are one place outside the play-offs in sixth spot and it may well count in their favour that they have a strong squad as the season goes on.
Bowers and Pitsea make another attempt at playing their Essex Senior League Cup quarter-final second leg game at Burnham Ramblers tonight with a 4-1 deficit from the home leg.
In the league, Basildon United entertain Barkingside with Hullbridge at Bethnal Green United tomorrow.
Having had Saturday’s scheduled home game with Maidenhead postponed due to a frozen pitch, Thurrock will hope to maintain their fifth place in Blue Square South — the final play-off spot — when they go to Dorchester Town tonight.
