BASILDON United and Southend Manor successfully got through the first qualifying round of the FA Vase on Saturday.

The Bees hosted Kings Langley at The Hive and came out on top in an eight-goal thriller.

Lewis Toomey put the visitors in front on 21 minutes, but Will King equalised eight minutes later.

Langley regained the lead through Lee Waryszniuk in the 35th minute, only for Leli Bajeda to level the scores in the 38 minute.

Chris Lewis netted three minutes before half-time to give the hosts a 3-2 lead.

Jamie Gray increased the advantage to make it 4-2 after netting in the 50th minute, but Toomey reduced the arrears with his second after 56 minutes, before Lewis’ second made it 5-3 in the 88th minute.

Southend Manor’s trip to Kingsbury London Tigers was less of a goal feast, with Wild Msiska grabbing the only goal of the game after 78 minutes.

In the league itself, there were defeats for Hullbridge Sports and Bowers & Pitsea away.

Ainsley Gaspar’s 14th-minute goal was enough to give Bethnal Green United a 1-0 win over Hullbridge.

Sports will be hoping to get back on track tomorrow night when they visit Halsted Town in the first round of the Essex Senior Cup.

And Bowers crashed to a 3-0 defeat away to Enfield 1893.

Wesley Borghys put the hosts ahead after 25 minutes and Chris Stowe made it 2-0 in the 32nd minute, before wrapping up the scoring with his second after 73 minutes.
