THORPE Hall golf Club won the Hudson Trophy at the South Herts Golf Club in North London on Sunday.

Professional John Fryatt played with Spencer Wells and they finished two under par. Their round featured a hole-in-one by Spencer.

Matt Southgate played with Patrick Bridge and they finished two over par. That gave the team a level par score overall, and that was enough for a seven shot victory.

It is the third time Thorpe Hall have won the won trophy, following successes in 1977 and 1996.

The competition is named after Robert Hudson, an American businessman and golf patron.

>The Tiger Trophy, a ladies’ medal competition played off the white tees, was won by Anna Leslie with 82 net who beat both Alison Cotgrove and Sally Anne Jackson on countback.

The August Stableford silver division was won by Pat Ball with 32points.

The Bronze section winner was Chris Richards who beat Mandy Grant on countback both scored 36 points.

The Mixed Captains Day was played on a beautiful sunny Bank Holiday afternoon, it was won by the captain’s spouses Beverly Bonora and Chris Ridgwell who scored 39 points.

Second place went to Betty and Peter Austin who scored 37 points.

The September medal winner in silver division was Sue Knowles with a net 69 with Lucille Palmer Moth runner up with 74 net.

The bronze division winner was Caroline Dunn (72 net) with Shan Mather (74 net), beaten into second place.
