SOUTHEND Rugby Club’s head coach Andy Holloway has told his team they must improve on last weekend’s win over Richmond if they are to triumph at Hinckley tomorrow.

The Seasiders ran home four tries during their opening day 35-22 victory at Warners Bridge last Saturday.

But Holloway believes they will need to produce more to secure a second successive victory this weekend.

“There are no easy away games in this league and Hinckley are another strong side,” said Holloway.

“They ran Old Albanians very close last weekend before narrowly losing and I’ve watched the DVD of that game so I know we’re in for a tough test.

“Because of that I actually feel we were need to do better than we did against Richmond if we are to get another win.”

Southend shone early on against the Oxfordshire outfit before letting the visitors back in to the game in the closing stages.

And that frustrated Holloway.

“We got 30-3 up and then didn’t score for 25 minutes,” said the coach.

“We’re very harsh on ourselves and we’re disappointed with the way we ended the match.

“Before that it had been quite encouraging but we can’t afford to switch off like that if we are to challenge this season.”

Southend will again be without experienced full-back Simon Hoult and their former skipper Andrew McClintock this weekend.

But they do welcome back centre Mike Stanley.

He missed out on facing Richmond because of an arm injury but is likely to be on the bench tomorrow.

That means Sonny Gay is set to continue after making a fine, try scoring debut against Richmond Tomorrow’s fixtures: Clifton v Dings Crusaders, Ealing Trailfinders v Richmond, Hinckley v Southend , Jersey v Worthing , Newbury Blues v Henley , Old Albanians v Shelford , Taunton v Lydney , Westcombe Park v Canterbury .
