Two wonder goals condemn Billericay to defeat at Bath
TWO excellent finishes did for Billericay as they lost at a much-fancied Bath side.
Town gave a good account of themselves and were unlucky not to take a point, but a sumptuous brace from ex-Swindon Town striker Charlie Griffin sealed a home win.
Griffin opened the scoring six minutes before the break when he latched on to a through ball and chipped back-tracking keeper Dale Brightly, who had come off his line to claim the ball.
Glenn Poole had already nearly put Billericay in front, but he just failed to connect with Alex Osborn’s dangerous cross before it was cut out.
And it was Poole who drew Town level with his fourth successful penalty of the season.
Striker Marc Charles-Smith was shopped down by home keeper Glyn Garner after he was involved in a mix-up with defender Sekani Simpson, and Poole smashed home the spot kick.
But the hosts scored the winner 15 minutes from time when Griffin picked up the ball 25 yeards from gaol and unleashed a powerful, curling shot into the top corner to condemn Billericay to their third defeat of the campaign.
Billericay: Brightly, Oates, Green, I'Anson, Swaine, Wild, Lechmere, Poole, Charles-Smith, Osborn, Reynolds.
Echo MOM: Nathan Green (Billericay).
