Concord have to settle for a point after Glozier sees red

ONLY a late equaliser denied Concord all three points despite them finishing the game with 10 men at Hendon.

Full-back Danny Glozier was dismissed after he received his second yellow card – both for fouls - with 20 minutes to go.

At that stage the Beachboys were 2-1 up after goals from James White and Tony Stokes and cancelled out the opener from Hendon’s Jack Mazzone.

But substitute Greg Ngoyi helped himself to a scruffy equaliser to earn his side a point.

Concord were the better side in the first half, but fell behind after 14 minutes when Mazzone picked up a ball from the right and expertly chipped goalkeeper Tom Lovelock in a one-on-one.

But the visitors levelled when James White – who had an excellent game in the middle of the park – volleyed home from 10 yards out.

And when Tony Stokes latched onto a ball over the top, out-muscled his marker, and riffled a shot into the bottom corner, Concord looked on course for their second win of the campaign.

But then Glozier was given his marching orders and, with 10 minutes to go, a miss-kicked shot fell kindly at the feet of Ngoyi and he side-footed home.

Concord thought they should have had a penalty late on when Stokes went down under a challenge from Ryan Wharton, but to their dismay the ref booked the striker for diving.

Concord: Lovelock, Coyne, Glozier, Cowley, King, Easterford, Spendlove, J White, Harris, H Elmes, Stokes.

Echo MOM: Harry Elmes (Concord).
