Steve Tilson not concerned with Canvey's lack of goals
The Gulls have failed to find their net in their last three games, and only have three goals to show for their opening five matches.
But they have been miserly at the back with only one goal conceded so far – a scrappy own goal off Danny Heale’s knees which gave Bury Town victory last weekend – and Tilson says he’s happy with how his team are performing.
Speaking straight after Canvey’s stalemate at home to Lewes on Saturday, Tilson said: “I think it’s another game we should have won.
“I think we’ve had enough possession but we’ve just got to be better in the final third.
“And I think once was get better in the final third we will be fine.
“It’s nice to get another clean sheet but we know we’ve got to start scoring a few more goals.
“Clean sheets give you some stability because you know you are solid, and I’ve been happy with not just the back four, but the whole side in doing that.
“And we can build on keeping four clean sheets in five games, but we just need to be a bit more ruthless in front of goal.
“But to go out and buy a striker who’s going to get you 25 goals will cost you a lot of money. But, no, I’m not too concerned.”
Canvey gave a debut to new signing Harrison Chatting, and the Canvey manager said he was happy with the winger’s contribution.
He said: “He was lively and involved a lot in the game, so it was a bright debut and one that I’m happy with.”
