CONCORD are into the hat for Monday's FA Cup draw following a thrilling encounter with Welling at the Aspect Arena, writes Jack Smith.

High-flying Conference South side Welling we much the stronger side from the offset and showed their class in the build-up to their opener which saw Ross Lafayette glance home a header into the bottom corner.

The visitors continued to create chances via the dangerous crosses of Joe Healy and one was met by Scott Kinch who had the goal at mercy but somehow headed wide from little over a yard.

The lead was almost doubled on the stroke of half time when Jamie Day‘s curling top corner bound effort was superbly tipped over by Michael Jordan in the home goal.

Concord produced a spirited display in the second half and came close to a leveller soon after the restart as Adetayo Osifuwa was slipped in and struck straight at keeper Jamie Turner.

As the hosts gained in confidence so did their chances and it took its toll as Harry Elmes was chopped down and awarded a penalty. The striker took the spot kick himself and duly fired low past Turner to draw the Beachboys level.

An upset looked on the cards and Concord came close to a winner when substitute Jason Hallett found space and struck a powerful volley which went just wide late on.

Concord: Jordan, Coyne, Glozier, Cowley, King, Easterford, Harris, White, Osifuwa, H Elmes, Stokes.

Echo MOM: Harry Elmes (Concord Rangers).
