BOWERS were good value for their win as a Calvin Poku brace gave them revenge for an FA Cup defeat to Eton Manor in August.

In a tight and cagey first half both teams failed to both teams struggled to create chances.

Bradley Warner forced Manor's Sam Tanner in to a fine save and Bowers keeper Micheal Doyle made a finger tip save from John Bricknell's close-range header.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 67th minute when Poku sprang the offside trap to run through and slot coolly past the advancing Tanner.

And within six minutes he had doubled the lead from the penalty spot after Warner was pulled down in the penalty area.

Poku, Callum Leahy and Georgie Shelvey all went close for Bowers late on, but could not add to the total as the game finished 2-0.

Bowers are back in league action tonight, away to Barkingside.

Elsewhere in the division, Great Wakering drew 1-1 at home to Barking.

Ashley Hawkins equalised 10 minutes from time for the hosts after Ricky Mackin had put Barking ahead in the 77th minute in front of a crowd of 90 at Burroughs Park.

Southend Manor got their first league win of the campaign at the sixth time of asking with a 2-0 victory over Sawbridgeworth Town at Southchurch Park.

David Tubbs got them off to a great start with a fourth minute opener and Gary Paterson sealed a 2-0 win with a goal five minutes from time.

And there was a good win for Basildon United away to Barkingside as Jamie Williams hit the winner for John Higley'sside with four minutes of the 90 remaining.
