The Bekash Restaurant in Wickford is ending the year on a high.

The Nevendon Road-based Indian restaurant, known for its emphasis on refined yet creative Indian cuisine, has recently won a Chef of the Year Award from the Bangladesh Caterers Association (BCA) as well as being awarded a five star hygiene accolade from the Food Standards Agency.

Burhan Uddin is the proud recipient of the Chef of the Year Award and has been a chef at the Bekash for 15 years. There are three chefs at the Bekash and Burhan is one of the head chefs.

Raj Mannan, manager of the restaurant, said: “I have been working alongside Burhan for many years and supporting him to get his dishes recognised.”

The restaurant, which has been running for 27 years, believes the key to its success is the “quality food” and making sure it provides a good high standard service.
