Police have arrested a man after coming across an early hours car crash in south Essex.
Patrolling officers came across the crash in Greensward Lane, Hockley, at 12.29am on Sunday after the driver had reportedly fled the scene.
Following enquiries, police arrested a 21-year-old man from Rochford at 1am that same day on suspicion of driving while unfit through drink and drugs, failing to stop and no insurance.
He has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
