A LONE vandal covered two cars in spray paint and paint stripper in a "random" incident that has left the elderly owners of the vehicles horrified.

Ken and Diane Lott, 80, returned home from holiday this week to find both their cars had been vandalised and construction foam sprayed into the exhaust pipes.

The couple, who live in Main Road, Hockley, are desperately appealing for witnesses on the street to come forward and have published CCTV footage on Facebook which shows a woman carrying out the vandalism.

The footage shows the woman, who appears to be elderly, covering the cars in liquid at roughly 10.30pm on Sunday night.

One of the cars has now been written off due to the damage while the other will need repairs carried out.

The couple’s daughter, Julie, 47, has been left furious by the incident and has condemned the “disgusting” vandal.

She said: “This has been the last thing we need. It is absolutely disgusting, and this experience has made my mum want to move away from the area.

“My parents are 80, they haven’t done anything to anyone, and it is absolutely devastating to see this.

“I am protective of my parents and even the thought of this happening to them is unbelievable.

“It is going to have a real ongoing impact and I am considering holding off on getting a new car in case this happens to me.”

Julie added that her parents and herself are “incredibly worried” and are uncertain as to how to deter any future reprisals they fear may be “around the corner.”

“You can put floodlights and cameras down, there are three at the front of our house but the person didn’t seem to care at all,” she said.

“They were so slow and methodical, there were repeated attacks throughout the night from what we understand as well, three times all in as they would leave and then come back.

“My dad’s car has been taken away by insurance, which is terrible because we have a gig in Cambridge on Sunday, and we don’t know what to do.”

The incident has been reported to Essex Police.
